| Description: |
|
The demolition and reconstruction of an existing reinforced concrete road including drainage works, ducting and reconstruction of footways. This is a very busy road that is the only access into L.B.
Harrow’s central depot and civic amenity site. There are also busy factories with access off this road. The road is in constant use and we had to maintain access to all properties at all times. Traffic and pedestrian management had to be planned and co-ordinated very carefully in order to achieve this.
The concrete that was used on the project had a very high cement content that achieved a crushing strength of 20mn/2 in 24 hours and had an eventual curing strength in excess of 60mn/2. This required that the concrete was being worked on immediately that it was placed by pump, which in turn required a high labour input to ensure that levelling and finishing could be achieved before the concrete started to set.
