7 months – completed July 2004
Commenced August 2006 due for completion December 2006
Description:
Phase 1
The first home zone project carried out in Harrow. This was an environmental improvement scheme using very high specification materials such as clay block paviors, new granite kerb & setts, new tree pits with wrought iron surrounds and brick planters.
Kerb buildouts also created larger pedestrian areas and a chicane system in order to slow down vehicular traffic.
The scheme totally transformed the area from a run down and scruffy looking residential street into a very attractive urban environment with a lot more safe areas for pedestrians especially for children. New trees and planted areas also added to the improved environmental quality of the project.
Phase 2
Phase 2 of this environmental improvement scheme using very high specification materials. The first phase brought enormous benefits, as previously detailed, to the area and phase two will complete this very attractive urban renewal project.
